At Long mountain centre  our environment is very precious, with beautiful unspoilt views, and no noise or light pollution. You can get a stunning view of the bright starlit skies on a clear night.

Ever mindful of preserving our own environment and the need to minimise pollution everywhere, we try to play our part by being eco friendly, and making it easy for our guests to recycle rubbish.

In addition we have a worm compost heap for organic kitchen waste. In the kitchen you will also find a range of environmentally friendly, phosphate and chlorine free cleaning materials and detergents. Such "green" cleaning products are equally effective as traditional ones; so why not give them a try during your stay with us?

Horse holidays

Long Mountain centre

 offers first class accommodation not only for you, but also for your horse or pony. There are 6 stables , all within the farmyard. Grazing paddocks are available at most times in the year.

An opportunity to get your horse really fit and increase stamina. There are miles of safe off-road riding on a local network of bridle paths  In addition to the bridle paths you can ride over 54 acres of privately owned farmland, and woodland  (depending on weather conditions  ) Imagine cantering across the undulating open fields.

Long mountain centre  is an ideal base for the more competitive. It is within easy reach of Llanymynech Horse Trials, & cross country course the west midland show Shrewsbury's spectacular  flower show and Agricultural Shows, Eyton point to point races.

pony trekking

Long mountain centre can accommodate treks of all sizes with ponies ranging from small quiet children ponies (12hh) up to large cross welsh cobs (16hh), capable of providing an exciting and exhilarating ride for the more accomplished rider. All our horses/ponies are sturdy and sure-footed, suitable for the beginner and the more experienced riders.

On arrival at the centre basic tuition is given to all trekkers. We will provide you with a riding hat, which complies with the latest health and safety requirements.Riders of all standards can enjoy a days riding, the pace is walk and trot with the occasional canter as the terrain allows.

Trekking

We can accommodate hourly, half day and full day treks all year round. Evening treks can be arranged in the summer months. Full day treks and trail rides will usually include a lunchtime visit to one of the local Inns, where you can enjoy a pub lunch. Picnic rides can also be arranged.

Hacks & Trail Rides:

Hacking & Trail Rides can be arranged for the more experienced riders who like a slightly faster pace and for the more adventurous

Clothing

For your safety and comfort we recommend that you wear suitable footwear i.e. shoes or boots with a smooth sole and a low heel and clothing should be loose fitting and comfortable. Waterproofs and gloves are advisable.

Horse riding is classified as a high-risk sport and it is advisable to seek independent personal accident insurance if so required. Although riders are covered by insurance, we (the owners) are under no legal obligation in respect of loss, damage or injury, at the same time every precaution for your welfare and safety will be taken.
